Western disturbances which move in west to east direction affect the temperature, rainfall and weather of India in the following areas :
Answer: A
Western disturbances chiefly affect J & K and Himachal Pradesh.
Western disturbances are extratropical low-pressure systems that start over the Mediterranean and travel east with the subtropical westerly jet. In winter they bring snow to the western Himalaya (Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand) and rain to the north-west plains, which helps the rabi wheat crop.
Konkan, Karnataka and Kerala lie far to the south of their track. Those regions get their rain from the south-west monsoon, and Kerala also from the north-east monsoon, not from western disturbances.
