Monsoon depression travelling in a N Wly direction from the Bay of Bengal produce high rainfall ?
Answer: B
The heavy rain falls in the SW sector of the track.
Monsoon depressions form over the head of the Bay of Bengal and move west-north-west across central India. The heaviest rainfall is concentrated in the south-western sector, to the left of the track, where the moist south-westerly monsoon flow converges into the system, and it is usually spread over a belt a few hundred kilometres wide there.
This is a known asymmetry of Indian monsoon depressions. The north-west sector and the generic 'east of the track' get much less rain, and 'west of the track' is too loose, since it is the south-western quadrant specifically that receives the heavy falls.
