Which of the following is an example of a performance goal orientation ?
Answer: C
A performance goal is shown by the student who studies hard to get a good grade and be better than others.
Performance (ability) goals focus on demonstrating competence and comparing favourably with others: grades, rankings, looking capable.
The other three students show mastery (learning) goals: studying to grow, to understand a topic deeply, or to learn as much as possible. Mastery-oriented learners judge success against their own progress, not against other people.
