In MS Word, what is a bookmark used for?
Answer: A
Correct answer: Marking a location so it can be returned to or referred to later
A bookmark names a location or a selection so that it can be jumped to with Ctrl + G, linked to with a hyperlink, or referred to by a cross-reference. Bookmarks are invisible unless their display is switched on in Word’s options. Their real usefulness is in cross-references. Marking a table with a bookmark allows the text to say see Table 3 on page 12, with both the number and the page updating automatically if anything moves. Doing the same by hand guarantees the reference will eventually be wrong. They are also used by field codes and by mail merge, and a bookmark spanning a range can be referred to so that its whole content is repeated elsewhere. A bookmark name may contain letters, digits and underscores but no spaces, which is a small practical constraint. The fourth option describes the Text Highlight Colour tool, a formatting feature with no navigational function.
