Which is the first Indian State to implement Uniform Civil Code (UCC) ?
Answer: A
The first state to implement a Uniform Civil Code is Uttarakhand.
The Uniform Civil Code, Uttarakhand Act, 2024 was passed by the state Assembly in February 2024 and brought into force on 27 January 2025. It sets common rules on marriage, divorce, succession and live-in relationships for residents other than Scheduled Tribes.
Goa already had a common civil code inherited from Portuguese rule, but it is not among the options. Manipur, Assam and Karnataka have not implemented a UCC.
