The first couple is Madhuri Kanitkar and Rajiv Kanitkar.
When Madhuri Kanitkar, a paediatrician in the Army Medical Corps, was promoted to Lieutenant General in February 2020, she and her husband Rajiv Kanitkar, who had retired as a Lieutenant General, became the first married couple in the Indian armed forces to both reach that rank. She was also only the third woman to hold it.
The other couples named did not achieve this distinction.
