Which of the following is not a renewable natural resource ?
Answer: D
Clean air, fertile soil and fresh water are renewable resources, since natural cycles renew them, although they can be damaged by pollution. Salt is a mineral, and a mineral deposit once used is not replaced within a human time scale, so it is not a renewable natural resource. The answer is salt. Metals, coal and petroleum are also non-renewable, since they take millions of years to form, and the rate at which they are used far exceeds the rate of their formation.
