Discussion
Consider the following statements about colour constancy.
1. It compensates for much but not all illuminant change.
2. Its failure is familiar from choosing fabrics under shop lighting.
3. It renders colour completely independent of the illuminant.
Answer: D
The first two are correct and describe the effect honestly. The third overstates it considerably, and industrial colour matching exists precisely because it is incomplete. Perfect constancy would make the discipline unnecessary.
