Binary cyclic code :
(i) Detects all single errors.
(ii) Detects all odd number of error bits.
(iii) Detects all burst errors of 16 or fewer bits.
Answer: D
The answer is (i), (ii) and (iii).
A cyclic redundancy check with a well-chosen generator polynomial detects all single-bit errors (the generator has more than one term), all errors with an odd number of bits (the generator has \(x + 1\) as a factor), and all burst errors of length up to the degree of the generator. For a 16-bit CRC such as CRC-16 or CRC-CCITT, that is every burst of 16 or fewer bits.
These three properties are the standard textbook summary of CRC error detection, so options naming only one or two of them are incomplete.
