Which ARQ mechanism deals with the transmission of only damaged or lost frames despite the other multiple frames by increasing the efficiency and its utility in noisy channels ?
Answer: B
The mechanism is Selective Repeat ARQ.
In Selective Repeat ARQ the receiver buffers correctly received frames that arrive out of order and the sender retransmits only the frames that were damaged or lost. On noisy channels, where errors are frequent, this avoids resending good frames and makes better use of the link.
Go-Back-N resends the damaged frame and every frame after it, and Stop-and-Wait sends one frame at a time and waits for each acknowledgement, so neither restricts retransmission to the damaged frames.
