A periodical The Rambler, as imitation of The Spectator, was started by .............
Answer: D
The Rambler was started by Samuel Johnson.
Johnson wrote and published The Rambler twice a week from 1750 to 1752, over 200 essays on morality, literature and society, following the model of the periodical essay that Addison and Steele had established in The Spectator (1711-12).
Joseph Addison and Sir Richard Steele founded The Spectator and The Tatler themselves, and Alexander Pope was a poet, not the editor of a periodical of this kind.
