In a class of 180, where girls are twice the number of boys, Rupesh[a boy] ranked 34th from the top. If there are 18 girls ahead of Rupesh, how many boys are after him in rank?
Answer: B
Correct answer: 44
Girls are twice the boys, so of the 180 there are 60 boys and 120 girls. Rupesh is 34th, with 33 pupils ahead of him, of whom 18 are girls - leaving 15 boys ahead. Rupesh is therefore the 16th boy, and the boys behind him number \[ 60 - 16 = \mathbf{44} \]
