Select the number from among the given options that can replace the question mark (?) in the following series. 2, 6, 24, 120, 720, ?
Answer: B
The series 2, 6, 24, 120, 720 is the series of factorials: 2 = 2!, 6 = 3!, 24 = 4!, 120 = 5!, 720 = 6!. Each term is the previous term multiplied by the next whole number, 3, 4, 5, 6. The next term is 720 x 7 = 5040, which is 7!.
\[ 720 \times 7 = 5040 \]
The options 4050, 5400 and 5004 are not 7 times 720, so they cannot be the next term of the series.
