Discussion
Consider the following statements:
| 1. | 2, 6, 18 | 54 |
| 2. | 3, 9, 27 | 81 |
| 3. | 5, 15, 45 | 135 |
How many of the statements given above are correct?
Answer: C
All three statements are correct.
Each row is a geometric progression with common ratio 3, and the second column gives the next term.
- 2, 6, 18: next is \(18 \times 3 = 54\).
- 3, 9, 27: next is \(27 \times 3 = 81\).
- 5, 15, 45: next is \(45 \times 3 = 135\).
Every row continues its own series correctly, so no row is wrong. A solver who reads row 2 as powers of 3 still gets 81, so the answer does not depend on which rule is spotted.
