General Giap passed away in October, 2013.
Vo Nguyen Giap, the Vietnamese commander who defeated the French at Dien Bien Phu in 1954 and led North Vietnam's forces in the war against the United States, died in Hanoi on 4 October 2013 at the age of 102. He is regarded as one of the great military strategists of the twentieth century for his use of guerrilla and conventional warfare against far better equipped armies.
September 2013 is a month too early, and September 2012 a year too early, which rules out 'None of these' as well.
