Name the recently deceased Kannada scholar and researcher, who had launched a campaign to save the monuments of Hampi.
Answer: C
The scholar is M. Chidananda Murthy.
M. Chidananda Murthy (1931-2020), who died in January 2020, was a Kannada scholar and researcher in Kannada language, epigraphy and the history of Karnataka. He campaigned to protect the monuments of Hampi from encroachment and damage, and was a leading voice in the movement for classical language status for Kannada.
S. Srikanta Sastri was a historian who died in 1974, and B.M. Srikantaiah, the poet and scholar who pioneered modern Kannada literature, died in 1946, so neither is 'recently deceased'. K. Srinivas is not the scholar linked with the Hampi campaign.
