In which programming paradigm the desired result is declared as the value of a series of function applications ?
Answer: D
This describes functional programming.
In functional languages such as Haskell or Lisp, a program is a set of function definitions, and the result is expressed as the value of applying functions to arguments, often composed one inside another, without changing state.
Procedural programs give a sequence of statements that change variables. Object-oriented programs organise code as objects exchanging messages. Logic programs, such as Prolog, state facts and rules and let the system deduce results, rather than computing them as function values.
