Which of the following is a valid acceptance of a proposal ?
Answer: C
A valid acceptance is one made in a manner prescribed by the proposer.
Section 7 of the Indian Contract Act requires acceptance to be absolute and unqualified, and to be expressed in some usual and reasonable manner unless the proposal prescribes the manner in which it is to be accepted. Following the prescribed manner is therefore always valid.
Acceptance in ignorance of the proposal is no acceptance at all, as held in Lalman Shukla vs Gauri Dutt. If the proposer has prescribed a manner and the acceptance departs from it, the proposer may insist on the prescribed manner, so B is not a valid acceptance as of right.
