Answer: D
Long-range or seasonal forecasts aim at lead times of a month or a season.
Weather forecasts are classed by lead time: short-range (up to about 3 days), medium-range (about 3 to 10 days), extended-range (about 10 to 30 days) and long-range or seasonal (a month to a season or more). The India Meteorological Department's long range forecast of the south-west monsoon is an example.
3 to 5 days is short to medium range, 7 days to 3 weeks is extended range, and annual predictions are climate outlooks rather than seasonal forecasts.
