Consider the following statements about the Holocene.
1. It covers roughly the last eleven thousand years.
2. It has been relatively stable compared with the last glacial period.
3. It shows no climate variability at all.
Answer: D
The first two are correct. The third overstates the stability, since the Holocene contains events such as the eight point two thousand year cooling and substantial shifts in monsoon strength. Stability is relative rather than absolute.
