If 30% of \(A\) = 50% of \(B\) and \(B = x\%\) of \(A\) then find the value of \(x\)?
Answer: A
From the first condition, 30 per cent of A equals 50 per cent of B.
\[ 0.3A = 0.5B \Rightarrow B = \frac{0.3}{0.5}A = 0.6A \]
So B is 60 per cent of A, and since \(B = x\%\) of A, \(x = 60\). The value 160 is what you get if you express A as a percentage of B in the wrong direction (A = 1.67B would be about 167 per cent), and 80 and 90 do not follow from the equation. The answer is 60, option A.
