Which group of medicines is mentioned in Schedule X of the Drugs and Cosmetics Act, 1940 ?
Answer: B
Schedule X lists narcotic and psychotropic substances.
Schedule X of the Drugs and Cosmetics Rules covers habit-forming drugs with a high potential for abuse, such as amphetamine and some barbiturates. They are sold only on a prescription in duplicate, one copy of which the pharmacist keeps, a separate record of sales is kept, and the stock is held under lock and key.
Antibiotics are mostly in Schedule H or H1. Over-the-counter drugs are those not covered by any prescription schedule. Ayurvedic medicines are governed by Chapter IV-A of the Act.
