Malus' Law is related to which of the following subjects?
Answer: A
Malus' Law belongs to the study of light, in particular polarisation: it says that the intensity of plane-polarised light passing through an analyser varies as the square of the cosine of the angle between the polarisation direction and the analyser axis. Gravity, surface tension and inertia belong to mechanics and fluids, so they are not the subject of this law. In symbols, \[ I = I_{0}\cos^{2}\theta \] where \(I_0\) is the intensity of polarised light reaching the analyser and \(\theta\) is the angle between the polarisation direction and the analyser axis.
