Everything in the topic follows from representing states and actions so that the structure is visible, which permits relaxations, heuristics and interaction analysis that atomic states could not support. Exhaustive search is hopeless, planning and learning are complementary, and domain size is not the limit. That a change of representation unlocks the techniques, rather than a cleverer search, is the same lesson constraint satisfaction taught, and it is worth carrying forward.
