1. The relationship between reflectivity and rain rate is empirical.
2. Its coefficients differ between convective and stratiform rain.
3. A single relationship is valid for every kind of precipitation.
Answer: C
The first two are correct and reflect operational practice. The third is not so, and misclassifying the echo type is among the larger sources of error in radar rainfall estimates. Classification algorithms run continuously for this reason.
