A ______ is the subset of a process and is also known as the lightweight process.
Answer: A
A thread is a subset of a process and is called a lightweight process. Several threads of one process share its memory and resources while each has its own stack and registers, so creating or switching them costs less than doing so for whole processes. A program is a passive set of instructions, a library is a collection of reusable routines, and a process is the larger unit that holds the threads. Because threads of one process share the same memory, switching between them is faster than switching between processes, which is why they are called lightweight.
