The Kromekote paper method is used to determine the sequence of intersecting strokes. A sheet of glossy Kromekote paper is pressed on the crossing and lifts the ink so that the order in which lines were written can be seen.
Indented writing is deciphered with oblique light or ESDA, invisible writing with chemical or optical methods, and erased writing with infrared or similar techniques.
