Discussion
Consider the following statements about raw mix control.
1. X-ray fluorescence gives an oxide analysis within minutes.
2. Feeder proportions are adjusted as the quarry chemistry varies.
3. The lime saturation factor is measured directly by a single instrument.
Answer: A
The first two describe normal practice. The third is wrong, since the factor is calculated from the oxide analysis rather than measured, which is why a fast and accurate analysis matters so much to the control of the mix.
