Who among the three friends proposed the idea of meeting at the pool ten years hence ?

It was Somi who proposed meeting at the pool in ten years.
The first sentence of the passage settles it: 'It was Somi's idea that we meet at the pool in ten years time.' Somi then makes Rusty, the narrator, promise to return at midday on 5 April 1964.
'Somi and Rusty' wrongly makes it a joint idea; Rusty only promises. Anil is introduced later as a friend and takes no part in the pledge. Rusty is the narrator who discovered the pool, not the one who proposed meeting again.
