The mood of the speaker in 'Break, Break, Break' is
Answer: C
The mood is somber and grieved.
The speaker contrasts the happy fisherman's boy and sailor lad with his own loss: he longs for 'the touch of a vanish'd hand, / And the sound of a voice that is still', and ends that 'the tender grace of a day that is dead / Will never come back to me'. These lines express grief for someone who has died.
The poem is not hopeful, because nothing will come back; not lighthearted, because the cheerful children only sharpen the sorrow; and not energized, because the speaker cannot even find words for his thoughts.
