Which figure of speech is there in 'the flame feeding on my mother' ?
Answer: B
The figure of speech is Personification.
Feeding is something living creatures do. Saying the flame was 'feeding on my mother' gives a flame the action of a living, hungry creature, attributing human or animal qualities to something non-living. That is personification.
There is no 'like' or 'as', so it is not a simile. Irony is a contrast between what is said or expected and what is meant or happens, and alliteration is the repetition of a consonant sound at the start of nearby words; 'flame feeding' does begin with the same sound, but the figure the phrase is built on is the flame acting like a living thing.
