Whose account is called 'much more important' as a record of the Mauryan rule?
Answer: B
The account called 'much more important' is Kautilya's.
The passage says Megasthenes, the ambassador sent by Seleucus, 'has left a record and, much more important, that contemporary account - Kautilya's Arthashastra'. Kautilya is another name for Chanakya.
Megasthenes' record is the one placed second in importance. Machiavelli is the writer to whom Chanakya is compared, not a source on Mauryan rule, and contemporary historians are not mentioned.
