What is the dominant 'mood' of the poem ?
Answer: A
The dominant mood is sorrow.
The images are of hunger, trees stripped of leaves, a village turned into a graveyard, cracked ground and failed plans. Together they create a mood of grief and sadness for the people of Kalahandi.
Surprise would need something sudden or unexpected, and the poem describes a lasting condition. Anger would need blame or accusation, which the poet's flat, sorrowful statements do not make. Relief is the opposite of the poem's feeling, since nothing is resolved.
