Why did Galileo live in perpetual dependency?
Answer: B
He lived in perpetual dependency because his clients typically compensated him with presents rather than money. The passage says 'because of this, he had to live in continual dependence'. It does not say he was a slave, had inadequate research or was an orphan. The passage says the patrons generally paid in gifts, so he stayed dependent on them for his living and his work, and the decision to approach the Medicis came from that situation. The statements about being a slave, an orphan or weak in research are not in the passage.
