What can be inferred about Cuicuilco prior to 200 BC ?
Answer: D
The inference is that Cuicuilco's economy relied heavily on agriculture.
The excerpt says that around 200 B.C. Cuicuilco, the largest of the centres near the Valley of Mexico, was seriously affected by a volcanic eruption, "with much of its agricultural land covered by lava", and that this removed it as a rival. Losing its farmland so badly that it stopped being a rival implies that agriculture was central to its economy.
It cannot have been a small city, because it was the largest of the centres. It is described as being in or near the Valley of Mexico, not outside it, and nothing says it rose rapidly.
