Last in the rearranged paragraph is sentence 4.
The paragraph runs 3 – 5 – 2 – 1 – 4:
- 3 sets up the situation: Mintu wanted a day off from school.
- 5 follows with therefore - he pretended to be sick and stayed in bed.
- 2 is the consequence: his father, believing him, summoned the doctor.
- 1 brings the doctor's examination and the syringe.
- 4 is the punch line - immediately Mintu jumped up and swore he was fine.
Therefore in 5 and immediately in 1 and 4 chain the events, and the joke only works if the syringe comes out before Mintu recovers.
