Cut-off wavelength for TE01 mode for a ractangular wave guide with cross-section a × b (where 'a' is the broader side) is given by :
Answer: A
The cut-off wavelength for TE01 is 2b.
For a rectangular waveguide the cut-off wavelength of a TEmn mode is
\[ \lambda_{c} = \frac{2}{\sqrt{(m/a)^{2} + (n/b)^{2}}} \]
For m = 0 and n = 1 this reduces to \(\lambda_{c} = 2b\), with the field varying across the narrower dimension b.
2a is the cut-off wavelength of the dominant TE10 mode, which varies across the broader side. a and b alone are the cut-off wavelengths of the TE20 and TE02 modes.
