How many total number of pixel values will a 8-bits satellite image have ?
Answer: C
An 8-bit image can hold 256 pixel values.
Radiometric resolution is the number of bits per pixel, and n bits allow \(2^{n}\) levels:
\[ 2^{8} = 256 \]
The digital numbers run from 0 to 255.
64 is \(2^{6}\) (a 6-bit image) and 128 is \(2^{7}\) (7-bit), so they come from counting the wrong number of bits. 7856 is not a power of two at all.
