Paulena Nickell and Jean Muir Dorsey, in Management in Family Living, defined home management as planning, controlling and evaluating the use of the resources of the family for the purpose of attaining family goals. It is the most quoted definition in Indian home science textbooks.
Gross and Crandall defined management as a series of decisions making up the process of using family resources to achieve family goals, R. C. Davis wrote on business management, and Rajammal P. Devadas was a pioneer of home science education in India.
