Which Act/law was passed by the government of India to protect the victims of accidents and their families from hardships out of and in the course of employment?
Answer: B
The Workmen's Compensation Act, 1923 (now the Employees' Compensation Act) provides for compensation to workers, or to their families, for injury, disease or death arising out of and in the course of employment. The Minimum Wages Act fixes wage rates, the Contract Labour law of 1970 regulates the engagement of contract workers, and the Health and Safety at Work Act, 1974 is a law of the United Kingdom, not an act passed by the government of India.
