What is 'format war' related to :
Answer: A
A format war is competition for market dominance.
The term describes a contest between incompatible technical standards for the same kind of product, where each firm tries to make its format the one the whole market adopts. The classic case is VHS against Betamax in video cassettes in the late 1970s and 1980s; Blu-ray against HD DVD in the 2000s is a later one. The winner gains lasting market dominance and the loser's format dies out.
Despite the word 'war' it has nothing to do with military formations, online gaming or software for countering fake news in wartime. Those options play on the word rather than its meaning.
