Intensity of an earthquake at a place depends on
Answer: A
Correct answer: the local shaking and its observed effects
Intensity is assessed from what happened at a particular place - what people felt, how objects moved, what damage the buildings suffered - so it varies across the affected region. It depends on magnitude and on distance, but also on focal depth, on the local soil, and on how well the buildings were built, which is why two towns at equal distance can record different intensities.
