Select the grammatically correct sentence:
1. The teacher asked the student with a frown on his face to leave the room.
2. The teacher asked with a frown on his face the student to leave the room.
3. With a frown on his face the teacher asked the student to leave the room.
4. The teacher asked the student to leave the room with a frown on his face.
Answer: C
It is sentence 3.
The frown belongs to the teacher, so the phrase must sit next to teacher. In sentences 1 and 4 it attaches to the student or to the room, which is the classic misplaced modifier.
