'A' man inserts an object into the urethra of a woman without her consent. 'A' is liable to punish for the offence of :
Answer: A
A is liable for rape.
After the Criminal Law (Amendment) Act, 2013, Section 375 of the IPC defines rape to include a man inserting, to any extent, any object or part of the body, other than the penis, into the vagina, urethra or anus of a woman, under any of the circumstances listed, such as without her consent. The same definition is carried into the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023.
Since the act itself falls within the definition, it is the completed offence of rape, not an attempt, and not merely outraging modesty. 'Unnatural offence' under Section 377 is a different provision.
