State whether the following is true or false.
Solid casting is used where the finished piece must be hollow.
Answer: B
Solid casting fills the whole cavity and gives a solid section, while drain casting produces hollow ware. The names describe the product rather than the method of filling the mould. Drain casting is by far the more common of the two in practice.
