The Global Agenda for Social Work and Social Development was adopted in 2012 by the International Federation of Social Workers, the International Association of Schools of Social Work and the International Council on Social Welfare. Its four themes for 2012-2016 were:

- working toward environmental sustainability;
- strengthening recognition of the importance of human relationships.
