Why are microwave link antennas mounted on towers?
Answer: D
Raising the antennas pushes the horizon further and lifts the beam clear of buildings and trees so that the Fresnel zone is unobstructed, which is usually the dominant consideration in siting. Interference and safety are secondary benefits, and antenna gain is a property of the structure rather than of its height. The height of a tower is bought to satisfy a geometric requirement, and calculating that requirement precisely is what a path profile is for.
