Discussion
Consider the following statements about special cements.
1. Calcium sulphoaluminate cement burns at a lower temperature than Portland clinker.
2. Hydraulic lime is preferred for repairing historic masonry.
3. All special cements are stronger than ordinary Portland cement.
Answer: C
The first two are correct. The third is wrong, since many special cements trade strength for durability, workability, colour or compatibility with an existing fabric. Strength is only one property among several that may matter.
