What is the multiplex advantage?
Answer: C
Also called the Fellgett advantage, it is that every wavelength contributes to every point of the interferogram, so each is measured for the whole duration rather than for a brief moment as a scanning instrument passes it. Multiple samples, detectors and scan averaging are separate ideas, though averaging is a real and additional benefit. Where a detector's noise rather than the source's brightness dominates, measuring everything all the time is worth a great deal, which is exactly the infrared case.
