P.V. Sindhu won the China Open Super Series.
In November 2016, a few months after her Olympic silver at Rio, she won the China Open Super Series Premier at Fuzhou, beating Sun Yu of China in the final. It was her first Super Series title.
The following week she reached the final of the Hong Kong Open but lost, so that title was not hers. The Russian Open and the Chinese Taipei Grand Prix are lower-level events she did not win that month.
